About MGO Manuka Honey

MGO SCIENCE

Mānuka honey is highly valued internationally but it's not just for its rich and smooth taste. When we look at honey through a glass, you will see a lot more than just the light amber color.

What makes Mānuka different to other honey is its methylglyoxal compounds. It is this concentrated antibacterial activity that makes Mānuka honey known for it's antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.

Therefore we are then introduced to MGO, a rating system that helps determine the concentration of methylglyoxal. And in simple terms, the higher the rating, the more antibacterial activity there is.

Halal Mānuka Honey

Mānuka honey is natural and medicinal honey produced by bees that pollinate the flowers of the Mānuka bush in New Zealand.

Our Mānuka Honey is halal-certified, so you can enjoy the health benefits without having to worry about breaking Islamic dietary laws. Research suggests that Mānuka honey helps strengthen your immune system and assists in healing cuts, scrapes and burns.

Bees are an integral part of our world‘s food chain and play a key role in pollinating food crops from across the globe. Here in New Zealand, we are lucky to have the native Mānuka trees where bees gather pollen and make Mānuka honey. This tree (Leptospermum scoparium), is the magic ingredient to give this Mānuka honey its healing properties. Through our careful extraction process of Mānuka honey, we have gained Halal certification/have become halal accredited.

We use machines to filter out most of the pollen, wax and other bits of stuff that are in raw Mānuka Honey. This makes our Mānuka honey easier on your digestive system because your body doesn't have to work as hard. So when you take a spoonful of our Mānuka honey, it has all the good things that come with raw Mānuka honey, but without the gritty texture. Mānuka honey is the perfect substitute for sugar in tea, and with our halal certification, you can be happy to know it’s a great product to eat.
